Youth Entrepreneurship Programmes in Lagos Informal Settlements: Job Creation and Dropout Rates Analysis

Abstract
Youth entrepreneurship programmes in Lagos' informal settlements aim to provide job creation opportunities while addressing high dropout rates. The study employed survey research methods to collect data from participants and stakeholders within the targeted communities. Quantitative analysis was used to interpret the collected data. Participants reported an average of 50% job creation success rate through the programmes, with dropout rates varying significantly between programme types (30-40%) based on participant surveys. Youth entrepreneurship programmes in Lagos' informal settlements show promise in creating employment opportunities but face significant challenges related to participant retention and programme efficacy. Programmes should prioritise strategies for reducing dropout rates by enhancing engagement, providing mentorship support, and ensuring alignment with local economic needs.
