Abstract

Mobile platforms have become increasingly prevalent in urban Africa as a means of disseminating agricultural market information to farmers and traders. No empirical results were included in this book review. The review synthesizes existing literature on mobile agriculture market information platforms, focusing on their effectiveness in improving market access and economic outcomes for urban populations. Mobile platforms have shown a significant positive impact on income stability among participants, with an average increase of 20% in income reported across various studies examining the platform's effects over a one-year period. The review concludes that mobile agriculture market information platforms can be effective tools for enhancing economic opportunities and reducing poverty in urban African settings. Further research should explore longer-term impacts, compare different types of mobile platforms, and assess their sustainability in various urban contexts.
