Urban Imaginaries in Contemporary African Literature from Kenya: A Theoretical Framework

Urbanization in Kenya has significantly transformed cultural landscapes over recent decades, with literature serving as a rich repository for exploring these changes through various genres and styles. The study employs interpretive discourse analysis to examine selected texts from diverse genres written by prominent Kenyan authors over the past two decades. The theoretical framework identifies key narrative strategies used by Kenyan authors to articulate their visions of contemporary urban life, offering insights for scholars interested in African literature and cultural studies. Future research should explore how these themes evolve over time within the context of ongoing urban transformations in Kenya.
