Abstract

The study explores contemporary Senegalese literature to understand how urban life is represented in this unique context of African literature. A qualitative approach was employed through close reading and thematic analysis of selected texts. Interviews with authors provided insights into their creative processes and motivations for representing urban life. Themes such as migration, cultural preservation, and identity formation were recurrent in the literature examined, reflecting the complexities of urban living in Senegal. The study reveals a nuanced representation of urban life in contemporary Senegalese literature, highlighting the interplay between tradition and modernity. Further research could explore how these themes evolve over time within the context of changing urban landscapes in Senegal.
