Islamic Scholarship in West Africa: A Comparative Study of Algeria
Abstract
Islamic scholarship in West Africa has a rich history dating back centuries, influencing various aspects of cultural, intellectual, and religious life. The research will employ a comparative approach, drawing from primary sources such as archival documents, academic publications, and interviews with scholars and practitioners. A thematic analysis will be conducted to identify commonalities and differences across regions. A notable theme in the findings is the integration of Islamic scholarship into local educational systems, where traditional methods are often combined with modern pedagogical techniques. The study underscores the resilience and adaptability of Islamic scholarship within Algerian society, highlighting its role in preserving cultural heritage while fostering innovation. Future research could benefit from a longitudinal perspective to track changes over time. Policy recommendations should focus on integrating modern educational methods without compromising traditional values. Islamic Scholarship, West Africa, Algeria, Comparative Study
