Libraries and Archives in Central African Republic: Preserving African Intellectual Heritage Through Qualitative Analysis

Abstract
Libraries and archives play a crucial role in preserving cultural and intellectual heritage across various regions of Africa. Central African Republic (CAR), with its rich history and diverse cultures, is no exception. The research employs a qualitative approach involving interviews with library staff, archival experts, and community members. Data collection includes document analysis and participatory observation. Findings indicate that while libraries and archives in CAR have made progress in digitizing their collections, there is still significant room for improvement, particularly in terms of funding and technological infrastructure. The study underscores the importance of sustained investment in these institutions to ensure they continue to serve as vital repositories of African intellectual heritage. Recommendations include increased government support, partnerships with international organizations, and training programmes for archival professionals.
