Preserving Digital Cultural Heritage in Resource-Limited Equatorial Guinea Settings
Abstract
Digital cultural heritage preservation faces unique challenges in resource-limited contexts such as Equatorial Guinea, where infrastructure and technological resources are scarce. A qualitative study employing semi-structured interviews with stakeholders including government officials, educators, and community leaders to understand their perspectives and needs regarding digital preservation efforts. Community members expressed a strong desire for culturally relevant content in the digital archives, reflecting a need for tailored educational materials that resonate with local cultural values. The findings highlight the importance of involving local communities in the planning and execution of digital preservation projects to ensure relevance and sustainability. Develop community-led digital preservation initiatives supported by government funding and international collaborations. Emphasise the use of locally available technologies and energy sources.
