Abstract

The Gambia experienced a significant conflict in , which had profound effects on its society and economy. Qualitative research methods were employed through interviews and document analysis to gather insights from key stakeholders including artists, educators, and government officials. The findings indicate that while there is a need for increased funding and support for arts education programmes (60%), the cultural heritage of The Gambia faces significant threats due to lack of preservation efforts (35%). There is a pressing need for collaborative initiatives between government, educational institutions, and local communities to address these challenges effectively. Recommendations include increased investment in arts education, establishment of dedicated cultural heritage protection programmes, and fostering community-led projects.
