Abstract

The participation of Muslim women in civic leadership positions across West African countries has been a topic of interest for researchers and policymakers alike. Despite cultural and religious barriers, there is evidence of increasing engagement by Muslim women in various governance roles. A mixed-methods approach will be employed, with both qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques used to analyse the data from the selected countries. This study underscores the need for continued efforts towards gender equality and inclusive governance policies in West African countries. Governments should implement specific measures aimed at fostering a more equitable environment that supports women's participation in civic leadership roles.
