African Perspectives on Afro-Linguistics: An Ethnographic Study of African Language Structures in Seychelles
Abstract
African Perspectives on Afro-Linguistics explores the study of African language structures in Seychelles, a nation with linguistic diversity influenced by multiple colonial languages. The study employs a mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with ethnographic observations to gather data from various community members. Data analysis involves thematic coding for identifying patterns and themes related to Afro-Linguistics in Seychelles. A specific finding is the significant proportion (60%) of respondents who reported using African language structures in their daily conversations, indicating a strong cultural influence on linguistic practice. This study reveals that Afro-Linguistics in Seychelles is not only prevalent but deeply integrated into the everyday lives of its inhabitants. It underscores the importance of preserving these unique linguistic features as part of cultural heritage. Recommendation for future research includes a comparative analysis with other African nations and the exploration of how technological advancements might influence Afro-Linguistics in Seychelles.
