Abstract

This study examines the impact of a digital literacy intervention on youth employment opportunities in Kigali, Rwanda. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including pre-and post-intervention surveys, focus group discussions, and qualitative assessments of participants' employment outcomes. Participants demonstrated a significant improvement (30%) in digital literacy skills following the intervention, correlating with an increase in job applications by over 50% compared to baseline data. However, actual employment rates did not show substantial growth. While digital literacy significantly enhanced among participants, broader socio-economic factors continue to hinder youth employment outcomes in Kigali. Future interventions should focus on addressing systemic barriers outside of digital skills training, such as access to job markets and education qualifications.
