Methodological Evaluation of Community Health Centre Systems in Ethiopia: Randomized Field Trial on Adoption Rates

Abstract
Community health centers (CHCs) play a pivotal role in healthcare delivery across Ethiopia. However, their effectiveness and adoption rates vary significantly among different regions. A randomized field trial was conducted in five randomly selected CHCs, with baseline and follow-up surveys administered over six months. Data were analysed using logistic regression models to estimate adoption rates. In one of the CHCs, there was an observed increase in patient visits by a proportion exceeding 30% from pre-trial levels. The randomized field trial demonstrated promising results for measuring CHC system adoption rates and provided insights into factors influencing their effectiveness. Future research should explore the long-term sustainability of these findings across different regions and contexts. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p<em>i)=\beta</em>0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
