Abstract

Digital cultural heritage preservation faces unique challenges in resource-limited environments such as Algeria. These settings often lack adequate infrastructure and funding for digital archiving and dissemination of cultural artifacts. The research employs a mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with local stakeholders and quantitative surveys of digital preservation practices in Algeria. Comparative analysis across different regions will be conducted to identify commonalities and unique challenges. A key finding indicates that community-led initiatives, such as informal networks among cultural institutions, play a crucial role in preserving digital content despite limited official support. The study reveals the importance of fostering collaborative efforts between local communities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and governmental bodies to ensure sustainable preservation practices for digital cultural heritage. Recommendations include the development of targeted policy frameworks that incentivize private sector involvement in digital preservation efforts, alongside increased public awareness campaigns about the value of digital cultural heritage.
