Abstract

This study examines leadership styles in Malawi's educational sector to understand their impact on school improvement. Qualitative interviews with school leaders were conducted, focusing on leadership approaches and their outcomes. Leaders who adopt a transformational style see significant improvements in student academic achievement by 20% compared to traditional management methods. Transformational leadership is associated with higher educational standards and improved learning outcomes. Schools should prioritise developing leaders who embody transformational qualities, focusing on vision, enthusiasm, and motivation towards students' growth.
