Abstract

Creation myths in Nigerian African cultures vary significantly across different ethnic groups within the country, reflecting diverse oral traditions and historical contexts. The research employs qualitative methods including in-depth interviews with cultural experts and archival research to document and compare the narratives. Themes such as creation through water or fire are evident across different cultures, indicating a shared human experience of origins. While similarities exist, each culture’s myth reflects unique aspects of their worldview and historical development. Further comparative studies should consider the influence of colonialism on these oral traditions.
