Abstract

This study examines the Cultural Identity Restoration Projects implemented among Indigenous Dinka communities in Southern Sudan, focusing on their resilience and effectiveness after three years. A thematic review approach was employed to analyse existing reports, project documents, and interviews with stakeholders. The analysis aimed at identifying patterns and gaps in the projects’ effectiveness. The findings indicate a significant improvement in community engagement and traditional knowledge preservation efforts, though challenges related to financial sustainability remain prominent themes across all evaluated projects. While the Dinka identity restoration projects have shown promising initial results, ongoing support is needed to address long-term sustainability issues. Recommendations include securing additional funding sources, enhancing community participation in project planning and decision-making processes, and integrating climate change adaptation strategies into existing initiatives.
