Abstract

Oral traditions in Southern African Comorian communities play a significant role in preserving cultural heritage and historical narratives. Fieldwork was conducted through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis to gather qualitative data from local informants and community archives. Oral traditions in Comorian communities often emphasise the importance of ancestral lineage and traditional ceremonies. A key theme identified is the reliance on oral storytelling for passing down cultural values across generations (80%). Oral traditions serve as a vital link between past, present, and future in Comorian societies, providing insights into their complex social structures. Further research should focus on comparing these oral practices with other linguistic groups to identify broader regional patterns. Comoros, Oral Traditions, Historical Sources, Cultural Heritage
