The study of Afro-Linguistics in Nigeria has been limited, despite its significance for understanding linguistic diversity and structure. A review of existing literature and expert consultations were conducted to identify gaps in current research methodologies and policies. Current methods often overlook the unique linguistic features of Nigerian languages, leading to underrepresentation in academic discourse. There is a need for more inclusive and rigorous methodologies that recognise the diversity within African language structures. Developing interdisciplinary research teams and integrating Afro-Linguistics into educational curricula are recommended steps.
