Abstract

Urban waste management in Kenya's cities has faced challenges such as inadequate infrastructure and limited recycling initiatives. The study employed a mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with quantitative data analysis to assess the impact of recycling initiatives. Recycling rates increased by 15% within six months in selected urban centers due to enhanced collection and community engagement strategies. While initial improvements were observed, further policy support is needed to sustain these changes and scale up initiatives across Kenya's cities. Implement long-term funding mechanisms for recycling programmes and integrate waste management education into school curricula.
