Abstract
Rural women farmers in Tanzania's Kilimanjaro Region often face challenges related to adopting agricultural technology transfer programmes. An action research study was conducted through surveys, interviews, and direct observation among 150 participating rural women farmers across five villages in Kilimanjaro Region. Data were collected over two years to assess changes in farming practices and yields. Rural women farmers showed a significant improvement in adopting new agricultural technologies such as drip irrigation systems, leading to a 32% increase in crop yield compared to non-participating areas. The study highlights the importance of tailored training programmes and community engagement for effective technology transfer among rural women farmers in Kilimanjaro Region. Policy makers should incorporate more targeted support and capacity-building initiatives specifically designed for female farmers, including mentorship programmes and financial assistance.
