Abstract
Sustainable agriculture practices have emerged as a critical area of focus for smallholder farmers in Ghana, particularly in the Upper West Region where climate change and environmental degradation pose significant challenges. The study employs a mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with focus groups to gather insights from stakeholders including farmers, extension workers, and local leaders. This theoretical framework provides a comprehensive model for understanding and addressing barriers to sustainable agriculture adoption in Ghana’s Upper West Region, offering actionable insights for future research and policy development. Promoting farmer-led initiatives, enhancing access to resources and technologies, and integrating climate-smart agricultural practices into extension services are recommended strategies to accelerate the adoption of sustainable agriculture in the region.
