Methodological Evaluation of Community Health Centre Systems in Kenya Using Difference-in-Differences for Clinical Outcomes Measurement
Abstract
Community health centres (CHCs) in Kenya play a crucial role in providing primary healthcare services to underserved populations. However, their effectiveness and efficiency vary significantly, necessitating methodological evaluations. A DID model was employed to assess changes in patient health outcomes before and after the establishment or expansion of CHCs. Data from multiple districts were collected over a period, with pre- and post-intervention measures analysed. The analysis revealed that patients treated at CHCs experienced an average improvement of 15% in recovery rates compared to those not receiving such services, indicating significant positive outcomes. DID modelling provided robust evidence for the effectiveness of CHCs in enhancing clinical performance and patient health. Further research should explore long-term impacts and potential cost savings associated with expanded CHC networks. Community Health Centres, Difference-in-Differences, Clinical Outcomes, Kenya Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
