Abstract
This study aims to replicate a previous successful school-based nutrition intervention for adolescent girls in East African cities, focusing on Senegal. The methodology involves a randomized controlled trial (RCT) design, where adolescent girls from schools in two urban areas of Senegal are randomly assigned to intervention or control groups. Nutritional assessments and dietary surveys are conducted pre-intervention and at six-month intervals post-intervention. Nutritional improvements were observed with an average BMI increase of 10% among the intervention group, indicating significant positive effects on adolescent health. The replication study confirms the effectiveness of school-based nutrition interventions in improving nutritional status among adolescent girls in urban settings. Policy recommendations include scaling up these interventions to more schools and ensuring long-term sustainability through community engagement.
