Abstract

Uganda's agricultural sector is vulnerable to climate shocks such as droughts and floods, affecting supply chain resilience. A mixed-method survey was conducted with 300 randomly selected Ugandan smallholder farmers to evaluate their supply chain resilience. Farmers reported significant challenges, particularly in accessing timely inputs and markets due to unpredictable weather patterns, affecting overall productivity (65% of respondents experienced crop failures). Ugandan farmers face substantial obstacles in maintaining stable supply chains during climate shocks, necessitating targeted interventions. Developing more resilient seed varieties, enhancing weather forecasting systems, and implementing farmer cooperatives are recommended solutions to improve resilience.
