Abstract

Urban Imaginaries in Contemporary Senegalese Literature explores how contemporary African writers represent urban life and its complexities through their works. This article employs a thematic analysis approach to examine selected contemporary Senegalese novels and short stories, analysing narrative structures and character development that reflect the interplay between individual narratives and broader societal contexts in urban Senegal. This framework provides theoretical grounding for future research into how literature can serve as an invaluable resource for understanding contemporary Senegalese urban realities. Future studies should consider incorporating more diverse literary genres and time periods to broaden the scope of analysis, thereby enriching our comprehension of urban imaginaries in Senegal.
