Preserving Digital Cultural Heritage in Resource-Limited Environments: A Mixed Methods Study from South Africa
Abstract
Digital cultural heritage in resource-limited environments faces significant challenges due to inadequate infrastructure and funding. A mixed methods study combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews and archival research. Approximately 60% of respondents reported difficulties accessing digital archives due to poor internet connectivity. The study highlights the necessity for community-led initiatives in conjunction with government support to ensure equitable access to digital cultural resources. Communities and local authorities should collaborate on developing sustainable solutions tailored to resource-limited settings.
