Abstract

Maternal health clinics have been established in Nairobi slums to reduce neonatal mortality rates, a pressing public health issue. The analysis is based on secondary data from the National Health Insurance Fund records, covering a period from to . We employed regression models to evaluate the effectiveness of these clinics. Community-based maternal health clinics were associated with a significant decrease in neonatal mortality rates by 25% compared to non-attending mothers. The study underscores the critical role of community-supported healthcare facilities in improving infant survival outcomes in Nairobi slums. Continued support and expansion of community-based maternal health clinics are recommended to further reduce neonatal mortality rates.
