Abstract

Kigali, Rwanda's capital city, has emerged as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship in East Africa. No empirical data were collected; instead, a literature review was conducted to analyse existing case studies of innovation hubs and startup ecosystems in Kigali. The analysis revealed that Innovation Hubs have significantly contributed to the growth of startups by providing resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities. A notable theme is the emphasis on technology-driven solutions, with a proportion of over 70% focusing on tech-based innovations. Innovation Hubs in Kigali play a crucial role in nurturing an entrepreneurial culture and technological landscape that drives economic development. To further enhance these hubs, policymakers should invest more in infrastructure support, expand access to funding sources for startups, and encourage collaboration between public and private sectors.
