Abstract

Renewable energy policies in off-grid rural communities of Burkina Faso face challenges due to limited access and varying stakeholder perspectives. A qualitative study was conducted through semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders including government officials, community leaders, and renewable energy experts in Burkina Faso. Policymakers expressed mixed views; about half supported the policies but highlighted issues like funding and infrastructure. Stakeholder feedback on policy implementation varied significantly between regions (60% positive vs. 40% negative). Policy outcomes were uneven, influenced by regional differences in support and resource availability. Policymakers should prioritise stakeholder engagement, address geographic disparities, and seek additional funding for off-grid renewable energy projects.
