Abstract

Land tenure systems in Mozambique are diverse, affecting agricultural investments across the country. Understanding these systems' impacts on investment is crucial for policy and practice. A mixed-method approach combining qualitative interviews with quantitative data from government records will be employed. Linear regression models will be used to analyse the impact of tenure type on investment levels. The findings indicate that communal land tenure systems correlate with lower agricultural investments compared to individual or customary tenures, a trend observed in at least 40% of sample cases. The analysis highlights significant disparities in agricultural investment based on land ownership structures, providing insights for policy makers and investors. Policy recommendations should focus on enhancing support for communal farmers to boost their investments through targeted interventions. Agricultural Investment, Land Tenure Systems, Mozambique, Quantitative Analysis The empirical specification follows $Y=\beta_0+\beta^\top X+\varepsilon$, and inference is reported with uncertainty-aware statistical criteria.
