Investment Climate Dynamics and Foreign Direct Investment Attraction in Mozambique: A Policy Analysis

Abstract
Mozambique's investment climate has seen significant fluctuations over recent years, influenced by various economic and political factors. A mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with quantitative data from official statistics to evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies. The analysis reveals a predominantly positive trend in FDI inflows over the last five years, with a notable increase in foreign investment towards infrastructure projects and tourism sectors. Current investment climate indicators suggest room for improvement, particularly in streamlining bureaucratic processes and enhancing investor protection mechanisms. Policy recommendations include simplifying business registration procedures, improving transparency in government procurement processes, and fostering regional economic integration initiatives.
