Governance Architectures in State-Owned Enterprises within Zambian Contexts
Abstract
Governance architectures in state-owned enterprises (SOEs) are critical for ensuring effective management and accountability within government-controlled organizations. The study employs a qualitative approach to analyse existing literature and conceptual models of SOE governance, integrating insights from international frameworks with specific applications in Zambia’s business landscape. The theoretical framework underscores the need for SOE governance architectures to evolve in line with contemporary business practices and public expectations, emphasising the importance of balancing centralization with decentralization. Recommendations include a call for increased transparency in decision-making processes, fostering collaboration between government entities and private sector actors to enhance organisational effectiveness and accountability.
