Abstract

The role of African universities in knowledge production and dissemination is increasingly recognised as crucial for socioeconomic development. No empirical data or methodology are presented; instead, theoretical insights are discussed based on existing literature. The analysis highlights that while universities in Nigeria produce substantial research outputs, there is a notable disparity in the translation of these findings into practical applications. While acknowledging the academic institutions' contributions to knowledge creation, the review identifies areas for improvement in enhancing knowledge dissemination and utilization. Strategies such as fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, strengthening ties with industry partners, and improving intellectual property policies are recommended.
