Abstract

Community gardens have emerged as a significant component in urban agriculture initiatives aimed at enhancing food security. A comprehensive literature review was conducted to evaluate existing research on community gardens and their effects in urban settings. Participant surveys indicated a significant shift towards more sustainable agricultural practices, with over 70% of participants adopting at least one new gardening technique. The study underscores the potential for community gardens to not only improve food security but also foster environmental stewardship among urban dwellers. Further research should explore long-term impacts and scalability of these initiatives across different socio-economic contexts. Community Gardens, Urban Agriculture, Food Security, Dakar, Senegal
