Eco-Friendly Feeding Solutions for Tanzanian Sheep Farmers: Profitability and Environmental Impact Analysis

Abstract
Eco-friendly feeding solutions are increasingly recognised as crucial for sustainable livestock production in Tanzania's diverse grasslands. A comparative study design was employed with data collected from 100 randomly selected farmers using structured interviews and field observations over a period of six months. The analysis revealed that the use of biogas digestate resulted in higher profits ($5,000 per year) compared to organic feed (average profit $3,000 per year), with a notable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 20%. Eco-friendly feeding strategies offer significant economic benefits and environmental advantages for Tanzanian sheep farmers, warranting further policy support and investment. Government subsidies should be provided to encourage the adoption of biogas digestate as a sustainable livestock feed option in Tanzania's grasslands.
