Policy Implications of Business Research in South African Contexts

Abstract
In recent years, South Africa has witnessed significant changes in its business landscape, with various policy interventions aimed at fostering economic growth and development. The study employs a qualitative approach, analysing existing literature on business practices in South Africa alongside government reports and interviews with industry experts. Key findings indicate that while there is substantial research available, the integration of this knowledge into policy frameworks remains fragmented. Specifically, there is an underutilization of evidence-based strategies in supporting small businesses. The analysis suggests that a more coherent approach to merging business research with policy development could enhance economic resilience and inclusivity. Policymakers should prioritise the integration of current business research findings into policy, particularly focusing on improving support for SMEs through targeted interventions.
