Côte d'Ivoire's Informal Economy Contribution to GDP: A Comparative Study in 2005 Context

Abstract

Côte d'Ivoire's informal economy has significant implications for its Gross Domestic Product (GDP), yet comparative studies in this area are limited. Qualitative analysis and secondary data from government reports and international databases were used for this comparative study. The informal economy contributed approximately 25% to Côte d'Ivoire's GDP in , highlighting its substantial economic role despite the lack of formal recognition. The findings underscore the importance of integrating informal sectors into national economic strategies for a more comprehensive understanding of economic performance. Policy makers should consider fostering regulatory frameworks that support and integrate the informal economy to enhance overall GDP contributions.
