Abstract

The agricultural sector in Southern Africa plays a pivotal role in regional economies, particularly in Tanzania where it accounts for significant employment and contributes to GDP. However, traditional farming practices often lead to low productivity and environmental degradation. Theoretical models will be employed to analyse the impacts of these innovations on regional economies, considering factors like technological adoption rates, market access, and policy support. The framework will integrate insights from existing literature and empirical studies. The theoretical framework developed herein provides a robust foundation for understanding the potential of agricultural innovations on Southern African economies. It underscores the importance of policy interventions that facilitate technology adoption and support sustainable development strategies. Governments in Southern Africa should prioritise investments in research and development, enhance access to credit and markets, and implement policies that incentivize technological upgrades among smallholder farmers.
