African Universities' Role in Democratic Republic of Congo's Knowledge Production and Dissemination Strategy
Abstract
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) faces significant challenges in its knowledge production and dissemination, particularly within academic institutions. Data were analysed using thematic content analysis. University engagement in DRC's knowledge production is predominantly focused on health sciences (80% of projects), followed by agriculture (15%). African universities play a crucial role but require more strategic integration into national policies to support the DRC’s development goals. Universities should develop interdisciplinary research programmes, collaborate with international partners, and integrate community-based learning initiatives. Policy reforms are needed to incentivize such activities.
