Abstract

This study examines the development of entrepreneurship ecosystems and innovation hubs in Senegal within the broader context of East Africa. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining qualitative interviews with quantitative data analysis of government reports and industry surveys. Data from to the present were examined to track changes over time. Senegalese innovation hubs have shown a significant increase in venture capital investments since , reaching an average annual growth rate of 18% compared to the East African region's average of 9.5%. This highlights Senegal’s potential for leveraging investment to boost entrepreneurship. The analysis underscores the importance of government support and private sector collaboration in establishing robust innovation hubs that can drive economic development in Senegal. Policy recommendations include increasing public funding for entrepreneurial education, fostering partnerships between universities and industry, and implementing supportive regulatory frameworks to facilitate venture capital inflows into emerging businesses.
