Abstract

Community-based antenatal care (ANC) services are recognised as crucial for improving maternal and neonatal health outcomes. A comprehensive search strategy was employed across relevant databases to identify studies published between and . Studies were critically appraised using predefined quality criteria. Community-based ANC services showed a significant reduction in neonatal mortality rates, with an average decrease of 15% (CI: 8-23%) compared to previous interventions. The review highlights the importance of community engagement and local ownership as key factors for successful implementation of ANC services. Health policymakers should prioritise strengthening community-based health systems, ensuring adequate training and support for healthcare providers. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(pi)=\beta0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
