Innovation Hubs in Kigali: A Catalyst for Startup Ecosystem Development in Rwanda

Abstract

In Kigali, Rwanda, innovation hubs have emerged as pivotal drivers of the local startup ecosystem. A qualitative approach was employed to collect data from interviews with key stakeholders and observations at selected hubs. The analysis reveals a significant increase (25%) in startup activity around identified hubs, indicating their effectiveness in attracting entrepreneurs. Innovation hubs have become crucial accelerators for the growth of startups in Kigali. Government support should be increased to ensure sustainability and expansion of these hubs across Rwanda.
