Abstract

Côte d'Ivoire's economy has been significantly influenced by its informal sector, which contributes substantially to GDP but remains understudied. Qualitative research methods were employed, including interviews with business owners, focus groups, and secondary data analysis to understand economic activities not captured by formal records. Informal sector businesses accounted for approximately 40% of GDP in Côte d'Ivoire between and , highlighting its substantial contribution despite regulatory challenges. The informal economy plays a pivotal role in Côte d'Ivoire's economic stability and growth, necessitating more supportive policies to harness its full potential. Government should implement targeted support measures for informal sector businesses to foster sustainable economic development.
