Abstract

Maternal health in remote Rwandan villages is a critical area of focus due to high mortality rates. A mixed-methods approach combining surveys with semi-structured interviews was employed across selected villages in Rwanda. Data collection involved structured questionnaires for quantification and thematic analysis of interview transcripts to understand contextual factors affecting health outcomes. Surveys revealed a significant reduction (45%) in maternal mortality rates post-intervention, while qualitative data highlighted community engagement as a key driver of programme success. Community healthcare programmes can effectively mitigate maternal mortality in remote settings through active community participation and improved access to health services. Policy recommendations include scaling up successful models, enhancing community involvement, and integrating digital health solutions to sustain improvements.
