Abstract

Gender dynamics in Zambian business enterprises have been a topic of interest for scholars examining gender dimensions within sub-Saharan African contexts. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with a sample of 30 business owners, including both male and female participants, across various sectors. Findings indicate that while women in Zambian businesses experience significant gender disparities, such as higher levels of financial constraints and fewer networking opportunities compared to their male counterparts, they also demonstrate remarkable resilience and innovative approaches to overcoming these challenges. This research contributes to the understanding of gender dynamics within African business environments by highlighting specific barriers and strategies employed by women entrepreneurs. Policy recommendations include fostering entrepreneurial support networks specifically tailored for female business owners and implementing targeted financial assistance programmes. gender, entrepreneurship, sub-Saharan Africa, Zambia
