Abstract
Seychelles is an archipelagic nation in the Indian Ocean with a rich cultural heritage that includes indigenous knowledge systems (IKS). These IKS are deeply embedded within Seychellois business practices, reflecting the country's unique blend of African, Malagasy, and European influences. The research employs a qualitative approach involving semi-structured interviews with key informants from various sectors of the economy. Data analysis is conducted using thematic content analysis. Indigenous knowledge systems significantly shape business strategies, particularly in areas such as marketing and resource management, where traditional practices are combined with modern techniques to achieve sustainable outcomes. The integration of indigenous knowledge into contemporary business practices in Seychelles demonstrates the potential for innovation and sustainability. Future research should focus on replicating these findings across other island economies. Organizations operating in Seychelles should consider incorporating elements of indigenous knowledge systems to enhance their competitiveness and environmental stewardship.
