Youth identity and political participation are critical areas of study in African studies, with Guinea serving as a case study for understanding these dynamics within an urban context. A survey was conducted among a diverse sample of urban youth, employing quantitative research methods to gather data on their perceptions and behaviors regarding political involvement. The analysis revealed that identity formation through cultural heritage plays a significant role in shaping young people's attitudes towards politics. Specifically, 65% of respondents felt more politically active when they identified strongly with their ethnic or cultural background. This study highlights the importance of recognising and addressing the intersection between youth identity and political participation within urban settings. Policy makers should consider fostering environments that celebrate diverse identities to enhance civic engagement among young people in urban areas.
