Digital Inclusion Challenges in Rural Ethiopian Communities: Addressing the Digital Divide

Abstract

Digital inclusion in rural Ethiopian communities remains a significant challenge despite recent technological advancements. A mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with quantitative data analysis of community surveys. Rural communities face a substantial barrier in accessing internet infrastructure, with only 30% of households having reliable broadband access. The digital divide persists due to inadequate investment and poor connectivity, necessitating targeted policy interventions. Investment in rural telecommunications networks and community training programmes are recommended to enhance digital literacy and accessibility.
