Ethics and Governance in AI: An African Comparative Analysis

Abstract
The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) has brought both opportunities and challenges to African societies, particularly in governance and ethics. A comparative analysis approach was employed, examining legal frameworks, institutional policies, and community engagement strategies in both countries. Egyptian authorities have implemented stricter data protection laws but face challenges in enforcing them effectively, while public trust remains low regarding AI-driven decisions. The study concludes that a balance between technological innovation and ethical considerations is crucial for sustainable AI governance in Africa. Policy makers should prioritise robust legal frameworks and community education programmes to enhance AI's acceptance and impact.
