Abstract

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) aims to transform intra-African trade by eliminating tariffs and fostering a unified market across the continent. The analysis is based on secondary data from government reports and industry publications to assess the impact of the AfCFTA on Mauritian businesses within the region. Mauritian firms report an increase in exports to neighboring countries by up to 20% following the implementation of the AfCFTA, highlighting a significant expansion in market access. The AfCFTA has catalyzed growth in Mauritian supply chains by reducing trade barriers and promoting regional integration. Mauritius should leverage existing infrastructure to further integrate into the broader African market and explore opportunities for value-added exports.
